Apparently the next consignment of ship to shore cranes may arrive in about 5 or 6 weeks, possibly the Zhen Hua 8. The delivery may be two ship to shore gantries, and possibly some RTG's.
We await confirmation! |

Today the first of the new cranes "boomed up". ie the crane boom was topped into a near vertical stowage position.

ZHEN HUA 8 was photographed arriving in Dar es Salaam on 10th July with 1 new quayside crane and 2 new RTG’s for TICTS (Tanzania
International Container Terminal Services). The other 2 quayside cranes and 3 RTG’s are for Felixstowe UK.
She is expected in Felixstowe some time in August.
This will be the last delivery from ZPMC, the terminal will operate with only 5 quayside cranes in place.

| It will be interesting to see exactly what is going to occupy the berths at the new terminal. It would appear that there are no new services to attract, existing lines seem happy where they are, and competition is intense from other ports. Even the number of feeder services into Felixstowe seem to have increased at the expense of direct calls. Is it possible that the largest vessels calling at FXT will be transferred from Trinity to the new terminal and that the 2 end Trinity berths will then be used for " normal " sized vessels ? |

A great set of pics.
I was in Hamford water when she arrived, so it's nice to see some close ups.
It is strange however, that since her arrival, the wind hasn't stopped blowing! |

| Quite strange to read the last 2 posts as this afternoon (30.08.10) Svitzer Intrepid and Svitzer Shotley both appeared to be bow on to the side of the hull of Zhen Hua 8. |

Possibly to keep her "pressed up" to the quay in the high winds.
The first crane is now ashore. |

Second crane now ashore this afternoon.
The Zhen Hua 8 alongside with the final crane waiting to be unloaded. The tug SVITZER MALLAIG on the left is on its way to assist by keeping the Zhen Hua 8 pushed up alongside as an added precaution.
The crane has now been rolled several metres along the rails.

| Zhen Hua 8 shifted at lunch time today to the Landguard terminal to discharge the 3 RTG's. |
